Are you eligible?
To be considered for the Krystle Kabare Scholarship, you must:
- Be a Kenyan citizen living with a disability
- Have already attained an undergraduate Upper Second-Class Honours Degree or above
- Be proficient in spoken and written English
- Have an acceptance letter to a Master’s programme at The University of Nairobi
- Applying to study a course within the fields of Public Health, Anthropology, Economics, Sociology, Social Statistics or any other relevant field relevant to working in social policy
The Scholarship programme does not discriminate based on age, race, colour, sex or religion. The Scholarship is not open to Development Pathways employees, consultants or family members.
How to apply
To apply for the Krystle Kabare Scholarship, please email the following items to scholarship@developmentpathways.co.uk.
- A duly filled application – the form can be found HERE
- An undergraduate certificate showing that the applicant has an Upper Second-Class degree or above.
- Proof of admission into a Master’s degree programme
- Two letters of reference (at least one academic)
- Proof of Kenyan citizenship
- Certification from the National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD)

Scholarship Recipient Notification
Upon receiving confirmation, a formal acceptance via email, as well as an official certificate of good conduct from The Directorate of Criminal Investigations, will be required to confirm the Scholarship.
Due to the anticipated high volume of applications we expect to receive, we are unable to provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
Guidelines
During the academic term, the candidate must meet the following rules and regulations:
- The recipient must take the full number of units per semester to qualify as a full-time Master’s student.
- The recipient must enrol on time and adhere to the academic calendar, with the year commencing in September 2023.
- The recipient must maintain a mean grade of ‘B’ at the end of each semester.
- The recipient will be required to write a blog/article/report on their learning experience throughout the scholarship and internship, which will be published on the Development Pathways website.
- The recipient must inform Development Pathways as to available timings for the internship portion of the programme, which will be decided upon between the recipient and Development Pathways.
- If the student defers enrolment beyond one year, the Scholarship will be null and void.
- The recipient has the opportunity to be an intern at Development Pathways Kenya, dependent on the field of study and area of interest for the internship.
Financial Commitment
The Scholarship will cover:
- Full coverage of course tuition fees, paid directly to the University
- Study-related charges (including medical, library, activity, caution fees, computer lab fees, student I.D.) up to a maximum of KES 36,025 per year
- Book allowance, up to a maximum of KES 22,000 per year
- Funds for the purchase of a computer up to a maximum of KES 66,000.
- Research and Examination allowance of up to a maximum of KES 66,000
- Certificate of good conduct of KES 1,050 per year
- A monthly stipend of KES 10,000 for living expenses
